Phil Nelson, PE, brings over 30 years of experience in the design, installation, and commissioning of audio systems. He has worked on a diverse range of project types, including high-tech educational learning environments and athletic facilities; high-end performance arts,
theatres, and entertainment spaces; large sporting arenas and stadia; municipal facilities, including civic and convention facilities; hotel, resort and casino facilities; and worship spaces.
Phil has also developed testing and documented mass notification systems and has experience assessing existing conditions to diagnose system failure and faults. He has provided training and professional courses to end-users on accurate commission (testing/optimization) of
systems for public address. Phil worked extensively in the professional system division of companies specializing in audio equipment, developing extensive experience modeling and verifying speech intelligibility for emergency evacuation purposes. He has also developed
criteria and assessed Speech Transition Index (STI) measurements to quantify speech intelligibility of seating areas for major assembly spaces.
