Georgia World Congress Center Expansion Atlanta, Georgia

Moye Consulting is providing design services for this 140,000-SF project is an expansion of contiguous exhibit space for Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC). The new exhibit space will join two existing exhibit halls and have a clear height of 40 feet and provide a day-lit exhibit experience. Daylighting sensors within the space will automatically dim the lights in response to the exterior light level.  The additional square footage required the addition of four communications rooms, where integrating new and existing systems occurs, to support the expanded exhibit space. Indoor and outdoor speakers will be installed and integrated into the existing public address system. The audio characteristics of the expansion space were simulated in a computer model to ensure audibility and intelligibility throughout the expansion space.

In 1976, the GWCC opened as one of the nation’s premier convention facilities with 350,000 square feet of exhibit space. Today, the facility is one of the top five largest convention centers in the country featuring 1.4 million square feet of exhibit space. GWCC houses over 100 meeting rooms, 12 exhibit halls, two ballrooms, and three auditoriums.
